School of Design & Production High School Visual ArtsVisual Arts is an exploratory program designed for high school juniors and seniorswho have an artistic interest, dedication and enthusiasm they wish to pursue in astructured course of study. The High School Visual Arts program is a carefully plannedarts curriculum that promotes intellectual, aesthetic and emotional growth. Disciplineis emphasized as an essential component of a strong personal work ethic.Students take studio classes in drawing, design and sculpture, as well as AP Art History.The is highly valued as an integral component in the education of our students. Studioassignments are designed to introduce students to a variety of media and the natureof the creative process. AlumniGraduates of the Visual Arts program have continued to pursue their interest in thefine arts at universities such as, Virginia Commonwealth University, Kansas City Art Institute, Maryland InstituteCollege of Art, Rhode Island School of Design, School of Art Institute of Chicago,Ringling College of Art and Design, School of the Museum of Fine Art- Boston and Collegefor Creative Studies.
Graduates may also apply to UNCSA’s or.Alumni have enjoyed successful careers in photography, graphic design, painting, animation,sculpture, installation art, makeup artistry and arts education. This wide array ofprofessions is a testament to the success of building an artist’s critical and aestheticskills at an early age.
Deeply connected to New Mexico, NMSA is proud to serve 215 students from 29 communities, pueblos and reservations across the state. NMSA brings these artist-scholars together–many of whom hail from rural areas–to experience the richness of New Mexico arts history, culture and industry, thanks to generous partnerships with local organizations such as the Institute of American Indian Arts, SITE Santa Fe and Meow Wolf, and renowned artists and galleries.
